The point is should our economies fail to look at the contribution made by a citizen in a more complex way . e.g.
- If a father can spend more quality time with his kid, research proves that it will grow the kid into a better person. So multiplier effect.
- If a worker spends less time commuting and wasting time on tolls, he will be more productive.
- If there are spaces for people to mingle and solve community problems, it will bring harmony and take a lot of pressure off the governing bodies.
The way economies work today, its all about chasing something for consumption, or selling it at higher pitches and that is what adds to the economic indicators like GDP making it a self re-enforcing cycle. We need to add a human element to the calculation as well.
